I know there's something good to eat down there, but how do I get to it?
Well that didn't work
Maybe I'll try up here
Almost there
Whoo hoo, got one
Ugh!! Safflower seeds. I hate safflower seeds!!
I think I'll try somewhere else.

funny stuff. i think i have some of that guys cousins in my garden!
I was about to bust a gut laughing at those pictures. Those squirrels are so cute and they can put on a show trying to get to food. I love the picture where he is inside the feeder. Too funny!!!
Squirrels are awfully cute little buggers, aren't they? And they give my dad something to occupy his time in his retirement, as he keeps coming up with new, increasingly wacky birdfeeder contraptions, designed to outwit the squirrels once and for all.
Marmee,
I'm sure you do have some of his cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. because they seem to multiply at an alarming rate. At least in my yard!!
Susie,
I could not believe it when I saw him inside that cage. I didn't think he would ever be able to squeeze between those bars. Must have really sucked in that fat little belly.
DG,
I know what your dad goes through. You wouldn't believe some of the ideas I've come up with over the years. If your dad comes up with one that works he should sell it. Everyone I know would buy it!!
How did he get in there? I am plagued with squirresl since I don't let my big cat, Voodoo outside anymore. He kept them all way away from the feeders.
Marnie
Marnie,
After I took this picture I slowly walked up to feeder (I didn't want to scare him too much) and he squeezed back out between 2 of the bars. I never would have thought there was enough room between them, but I was wrong. Sneaky little devil can make himself pretty thin when it comes to getting into mischief.
I suppose if I had bird feeders I'd see lots of "squirrely shenanigans" too.
Great photo series.
tc,
The upside of feeders is of course that you get to see the birds up close, the downside of feeders is that you also get to see the pesky squirrels up close.
Thanks for your comment on the photos.
