There’s no denying it now. I’m definitely over, down and past the hill. Those of you who read this dribble, know that I walk to the stores, at least 90% of the time. Loading up my arms with bags of groceries, prancing home without a problem. At least I used to. This last year, the amount of bags I can carry has gradually decreased until I have had to limit myself to two for each hand. And depending on what I need to buy, and how heavy it is, sometimes not even that many. (Not including candy of course. I can still manage to carry LOTS of that)
But today I faced the truth. I’m an old, decrepit, weak armed ancient. No more walking briskly home, but instead going slower and slower weighed down by too many bags. Sooooo I finally folded.
And so does this for easy storage.
They say that with age comes wisdom. Too bad my age came too soon and my wisdom didn’t come soon enough. I think I could have saved myself some long, hard walks home, if it had.
Wow!! I can stuff a whole heck of a lot of candy in there and still have room for food!!

Or a Uncle Walt used to say "ve gets to soon alt unt too late schmart. Actually little adjustments help me. I gave up hunting with a gun and took up hunting with binocs and a camera.
Well, better late then never, flydragon! Looks like a handy little cart for sure.
By the way, I'm not in Ky. I'm in the MO Ozarks.
I'm off to the Hollywood Casino in the morning for the weekend. Wish me luck!
Hugs,
Renie
If you still have room for food, then clearly you haven't gotten enough candy!
Does this mean you can carry tubby little Harriet with one arm while pushing the cart full of candy with the other???
Cute cart. Old age ain't for sissies; we just have to accept our limitations (which, for me, are becoming more numerous daily..haha). Glad you found a 'green' solution to getting your groceries.
Flydragon, I cannot picture you as ancient or weak armed. If I did I would have to admit I was that way too. :) I do like your cart, though. Just don't become one of those 'bag' ladies who piles all their possesions on it and parades around town.
BTW, where have you been? Missed reading your cheerful some what skewered views on life!
You're not older, just wiser--why use up all your energy lugging groceries when you could be doing other more exciting things like shoveling the snow off your car?:)
Don't know what it says about me, but I carried my groceries in one of those when I was in my 20s and later!!! It's amazing the things you can do when you don't drive! So just look at it a little differently, not from a 'decrepit' point of view! You're just going 'green'!!:-)
SisterNan
You will never regret this purchase Flydragon. That little baby will come in handy for at least a million things. It can also be used for a walker....oops...I should explain that. I mean I know personally it can be used for a walker because I usually need one because I am a klutz and tend to break toes, sprain ankles, etc, etc.
Well! Does it have a set of chains for winter pushing or are you going to splurge on a sled next winter! :)
Wow! I love your new wheels. Why isn't there a rock and roll song playing in the background like they do for all new cars?
I thinks it's pretty spiffy, and every time you don't drive, you're saving the environment.
Ha, ha, ha, I can relate.
If I were walking to the store like you...I'd be using one of these snazzy carts! Speaking of candy, my husband and I have looked all over for Ice cubes(the candy..childhood memories!)Last weekend I finally found them, of all places, at the Goodwill counter. So far, I've eaten about $10.00 worth of Ice cubes in one week! OINK!
Good purchase! And I agree about the icecubes. I used to love them! Havent seen them in years.
Hi trout,
For some reason this cart must seem like a big adjustment for me, seeing that I put it off for so long:))
Renie,
Whoo hoo, little vacation for you!! Good luck and win lots!!!
DG,
I sure love the way you think:)) I can clear out the entire candy aisle with this thing!
Mildred,
I sure can!! And chubby can even ride in it so as to guard the candy from thieves:))
Betty,
But I don't want to have limitations, and it was like pulling teeth to get myself to even buy this, let alone use it. Well I haven't used it yet since I just got it yesterday:))
Beckie,
Oh goody, another use for this handy dandy cart. And all my stuff could probably fit in it too:) I can see it now......
I know I haven't posted for a while. My head's been empty of all thoughts, skewered or otherwise:)
Rose,
Ha, you're right. Except about the "exciting" part though:)) Definitely wasn't!!
Nan,
YES, not old, just green. I like it!!!
Brenda,
Ha, we actually saw walkers while we were searching for this cart. They now make the walkers with a seat, in case you need a little rest. I figure that's next. I wonder if I can push the cart while using the walker:))
Farside,
Oh oh, I never thought about the snow bit. Maybe they make little skis for the wheels. Either that or a large dog to tote it down the street. I think the sled would be too hard to drag through the store:))
Rudee,
The rock and roll song was playing in my head. Couldn't you hear it??
Saving the enviroment AND my aching arms:))
Oldcrow,
Ah, misery loves company. Welcome:))
Hi piggy spooky,
I've never heard of "ice cubes". Another goodie to add to my list, since I now have plenty of room to carry them home:))
Jan,
Another testament for ice cubes. Have to look for them for sure!!!
Good to know wisdom comes with age. I'll be looking forward to receiving some.
Well, I can see some advantage. For one thing you could easily pull that cart with one hand leaving the other hand free to unwrap and eat candy as you walk home.
Marnie
I can see you now pulling that cart home from Marc's with that hops beverage on the bottom, candy & food on top of that and flower plants on top. Way to go!
Hey...take that cart to your local Goodwill...you have GOT to try Ice Cubes...they actually melt in your mouth, like smooth cocoa! Only downside is that they were 30 cents a cube! I'm eating the rest of my $5.00 worth tonight...yeah, OINK! Take mine and Jans' word for it..good stuff!
Susie,
Too bad I had to have the first one in order to get the second:))
Marnie,
You're right!!! Why didn't I see that upside first before all the downsides:))
Di,
Ahhh, you know me all too well:)
Spooky,
You make them sound sooooo good, I'm definitely making a special trip to find them!!!
You only got one cart? I would have made it a double, one just won't be big enough for the candy stash AND groceries.
A heck of a lot of candy and still room for food - that's what I'm talkin' about! :)
T,
Now why didn't I think of that. Two arms equals 2 carts. Duh. (slapping myself along side the head, not too hard though:)
Terri,
I make sure I get my priorities right:)
I have a couple of those too and use them frequently. They do have to design them a little better though, I'm tall and the handle is just a little short for me. I keep one in Greece that has an adjustable handle I just haven't found one here in Toronto yet...ciao
I think it's awesome that you walk to the store, and even more awesome that you now have a way to carry food AND candy. You're not over the hill, my friend, you're simply working smarter! :)
I was just wondering, is decrepit, weak armed and ancient the same as "Older Than Dirt"? Hhmmmmmm? I thought so. :D :D :D :D :D
Rositta,
I'm thinking this will probably be very useful. I'm on the shorter side so the handle fits me pretty good, but that adjustable handle sounds like a great idea. Too bad you can't find one of those by you.
Hope your eye is feeling a lot better today!!!
Terri,
LOL"Working smarter" sure sounds a lot better than "over the hill", doesn't it:)))
Di,
Yep, that's exactly what it means, and I guess saying it all these years, finally made it come true, you S.O.F. :))))))
My grandmother had one just like that!
Okay, harrassment aside, I covet your little cart. I'd buy one, but there's no place within walking distance of my house except Groceryland and it's way expensive. So I guess what I really covet is your lifestyle.
Hi Jeanne,
You'll have to stand in line if you want to harrass me.
I read your Raisin Chronicles all the time cause you are one funny lady, but didn't realize you live in the Dayton area until a few posts ago. Yeah, I know, it takes me awhile. I do live in a convienent area, walking everywhere I need to go except the garden centers. But that's what cars (and sisters) are for, right?
Couldn't you find a more sporty model? Some cotton toppers know cool. ;~P
TC,
I figured the one pulling this contraption is "sporty" enough. No use adding to the spectacle.
