Running On Empty

Well, not exactly running. The only thing running around here is my nose, the rest of me is more like a slow shuffle. On this second day of the new year my calendar is empty, my mind is empty, and even my coffee cup is empty.

(Notice the dragon on there?)

Well, at least I can fix that one right away, so hold on a minute.

Now for the calendar. Come to think of it, that’s not totally empty. Today is my older sister Betty’s birthday. My other older sister Nan also has a birthday later this month, so in honor of them both, here they are in all their glory. Don’t let the smiles fool you, they’re nowhere near as sweet as they might look. And did I happen to mention that they’re both older than I am? (snicker, snort, chortle, guffaw)

Next, on to the empty mind. …………Ummmm…………nope, nothing there………no thoughts, witticisms, jokes, or ideas floating around in there. The only thing bouncing around in there now is the nagging suspicion that this month is going to be pretty slow when it comes to blogging. Or anything else for that matter. Oh oh, now what am I going to do.

I like an empty mind, well... mine at the moment, nice to not have to think of anything for once, oh shoot, was that a crash I just heard upstairs coming from the cat room, uh... no, not gonna think about it.

LOL, my word verification today is *fever*, and I am currently running one, how does it know? Things that make you go HMMMM.

Hey wheres the picture of that sweet little girl that always lets us know that we are her older sisters? I hope you find something to write about in Jan. because its going to be boring if you don't. you're supposed to say your mind is half full not half empty. Middle sis

Well ya better think of something FAST! :)

The empty mind isn't so much of a concern, but the empty coffee cup... YIKES!! Now that's a problem!

I love being able to write "OLDER" siblings too!!! Tell us some more stories on them! My stories become better with age - I become more of the mistreated younger sister and they the ruthless, greedy older ones!

T,
lol. You'd think I would either get used to or learn to like an empty mind, since it happens more often these days:)

"fever?" now that is scary, since you've been sick lately. Gremlins perhaps?

Betty,
I guess you noticed that I cropped out that cute, sweet, adorable, younger sister.
I'd be happy if my mind was even just half empty.

farside,
I'm trying, I'm trying, but nothing's popping up. A big ZERO.

DG,
You're right about the priorities, of course. Would be great though, if I could fill my mind as easily as I can fill the cup:) I wonder if there's a carafe full of ideas sitting on the back burner somewhere around here.

Mildred,
Isn't it great to be able to blame older siblings for some of the umm.. "unusual" things you've done in your life. It can always be their fault because of the bad things they did to you when you were an innocent little kid:) I love it!!

What a cute pic of your sissies flydragon! Okay, you are going to have to find something to write about for the next month or I'll be falling asleep down here. Drink tons of caffeine, get that brain kicked it and lets get going now!!!

Go and have a adventure, it can be inside, or outside your choice, take the camera. We are waiting with baited breath to see what you come up with.

Hope that you feel wayyyyy better soon.

I am the oldest in my family, so I appreciate my "older" friends to help me feel younger:)
I'm sure once your head clears from that cold, you will think of lots to say once again!

beckie said...

Just take a a few days off and treat yourself with care. That brain will begin to work again!

Or dig out more pictures of the 'older' sisters. I'm sure they are enjoying them. :}

Oh, I don' know. Seinfeld was about nothing too-and look how long they wrote and acted on nothing. I think for having nothing, you came up with a pretty good post. You always make me laugh.

I want to see the whole picture, including that cute, sweet, adorable younger sister. Happy birthday Betty, you two have had to put up with that cute,swe....oh cut the crap - she's wicked!

flydragon said...

Susie,
That picture may be cute, but I'm not sure it captures the "real" sisters. So far, the excessive amounts of caffine haven't been doing the trick:)

Jen,
Maybe I should start going around the neighborhood with the camera, peeking into windows and back yards. That should be an adventure and should give me plenty to post about while I sit in a jail cell:)

Rose,
Yes, older friends work just as well as older sisters:) I'm not so sure that clearing up the cold, will also clear up the foggy brain.

beckie,
I don't have too many pictures of them, because they have them all. They're probably pretty happy about that too, now that I've started this blog:)

Rudee,
That's true, they were on the air a long time for "nothing". They sure got paid "something" though:) Hey, I know, maybe my sisters will pay me to say nothing about them.

Di,
Hey, hey, don't be taking their side. I'm the victim here.

I just joined your followers list, so now you 'have' to get back to blogging so I'll have someone else to visit! Hope you will feel better soon:) Jan

flydragon said...

Hi Jan,
Thanks for coming along for the ride, with all it's bumps and pot holes:)
I also went to visit you and decided with all those great photos you take, I'll have to go along on your ride too.

NVAM,

Well, I've about had it with 'the oldest,' 'the older' !!!!! You'd better be thinking of something nice to say (obviously you have plenty of time to come up with SOMETHING!) or you're going to be sorry. Betty, help!!!!

flydragon said...

Hey Nan,
I'm going to be sorry how? Whatcha going to do from way over there? By the way, could you send me some more pics of when you and Betty were younger, and tell me about some of the weird things you used to do? Just asking cause I'm interested, not because I want to post about it or anything.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, right!!!! Just to give you more to tell on us!

Now that I think about it, I don't think I honestly can--my scanner is no longer working--really!

SisterNan

flydragon said...

Nan,
The only reason I believe the story about the scanner is because we did talk about that last time you called. Otherwise, I'd be calling you a liar...I mean a teller of tales.

Great post, we all feel like that sometimes, especially the longer winter gets. I just gave "Not Very" another reason to be upset, I added myself to your Followers list! Hope you feel better soon!

flydragon said...

Hi Spooky,
Thanks for following along. I think Not Very will be taking another nap when she sees this:)

Well, I'm sure of one thing you did...made me feel better by reading your post, my son left for KY this mornin and I've been sad since. :~(

flydragon said...

TC,
I know how you're feeling. Fla. brat came for a visit this summer, the first since 2004, and watching them leave to go back is no picnic. SIGH.

Marnie,
I wonder if Jan. and Feb. are the least productive months of the year. I'm betting they are, at least for me:)

KALI,
Yep, it's true. EMPTY!!
And I'm up, but still not thinking or writing:)

Speaking of Jan/Feb and nothing happening--have you been thinking of seedlings yet:-) My catalogs are arriving by the dozens.

SisterNan

flydragon said...

Nan,
I've been thinking about them, but haven't even looked thru the catalogs yet. And this year I do have to buy more seeds, so I guess I better get busy on that.

Use your imagination. Take a thought and brainstorm how it might be connected to gardening. Or...do you have any cats? They're always good for a post or two! :-)

flydragon said...

Kylee,
I'm afraid my imagination is on the fritz and alas, no pets here. I know they're always good for a few posts. I am thinking about getting one though. No, not just for that reason:)
