Progress?

You’ll be happy to know (or not) that I finally got that blanket of white crap off of my car. However since it is still totally surrounded by that lovely stuff, (I work in stages) the car isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

You’ll also notice that I am now the only one who is still stuck. Everyone else has been up and running for days. The reason for that could be that they are all in better physical condition and more energetic than I am, or, and this is the one I prefer, even though they’re weak and puny, they had no choice because they had to get to work.

Anyhow, since I was running out of a few things, I decided to walk down to the store, which is no biggie, because 99% of the time that’s what I do anyway. The only time I take the car to go shopping is when I have to stock up and can’t carry it all home, or when the temps are way too low which has been the case until today. Today it is 40* F. Forty!!!!!! It feels positively balmy.

To make a long story short, when I got to the store my eyes were a lot bigger than my brain, (surprise, surprise) and I ended up with quite a few “necessities?” Needless to say, that ¼ mile walk back home felt more like a 5 mile uphill hike against a 30mph headwind while carrying a small car, and took a lot longer than expected. But I have to admit, this is the first time in weeks that I actually felt toasty when outside. I also rewarded myself with a bag of Hershey’s truffle kisses. Okay, maybe it was 2 bags, but the temperatures are supposed to plummet again tomorrow so they were definitely a necessity.

Ooh, I hate snow! That picture of your car brings back not-so-fond memories of my years of employment.

Only 2 bags of Hershey's?? You might want to hoof it back to the store for a couple more...the temps are going to plummet and you need your sustenance!

Harriet says to tell you she could wear a little saddle bag and carry two more bags of kisses and a carton of coffee cream if necessary!!!

Betty,
You're right. What was I thinking with only 2 bags. DARN!!!!

Mildred,
Oh that little sweetie, willing to go the extra mile for me (well only 1/4 mile). Send her pleeeeeze!! Oh my, I can actually picture her in saddle bags, LOLOLOLOL

Well hope you get this one. Don't try and shovel that white stuff thats around your clean blue car cause it's pretty darn heavy! I wish it would stay warn for another day or two just to melt some of the ice on the gutters, and to make room for more on the sides of the driveway. You would be pretty soggy if you tried to make yourself an angel today. Middle sis

Sister B,
No way am I going to try to shovel that stuff, I'd end up lying in it, and not because I was trying to make another angel either.

I am glad that you don't need to go out in this weather unless you wish to. What a walk, I've been there, and yes my "eyes" are too big for my arms to carry.

Re the grey hair, and just not looking in the mirror. It is like watching a horror movie, and yelling at the heroine DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR. We all know what happens then.

Well, here's my 2cents worth. It was almost 70 down here today!!!! What little snow and ice we had is now gone--hee, hee, hee. But I'll not laugh too hard because that could change any minute!!

Am glad you finally got out to buy some groceries, especially CHOCOLATE!!!

Beer is heavy! Especially a 12 pack (or two). You should have a little red wagon. Fill it up with your beer and truffles (and the other misc. items)and drag it back home.

Jen,
Ha, I'm glad I'm not the only one with the eyes/brain/arms coordination problem. Do other people also stare at you when you're walking home, wondering what the heck you were thinking?

lol on the horror movie comparison. You know you shouldn't look, you don't want to look, but you have to, just to see if the "silver" is really there:)

Oh Harriet, you went and got all gussied up for our little trip to the store. I just want to squeeze you!!!! And yes, I'm still falling off the chair, laughing.

Nan,
Pffffft. (Raspberries)
Have to time these little store excursions just right. Nice day today, 17* tomorrow.

FD#3,
Nope, no beer today. That's strictly a car shopping day. Thought about the wagon, but there's no place to store it. Unless I store it in the car along with all the other stuff that I can't find a place for.

It certainly was a beautiful day, for winter. Glad you got out. If it's any comfort at all, remember that blanket of snow is protecting our precious perennials from the very cold temps. Enjoy your chocolates...

Thank you for sparing the world from your car emissions. I appreciate your efforts at being green.

flydragon said...

Di,
Hey those perennials are tough and don't need all this covering, while I on the other hand am very tender and don't want it.

Rudee,
I think in this case, I might be going white instead of green. I'm glad you appreciate it, because I don't and I'm sure my family won't either when they finally have to chauffeur me around to the stores.

Sounds to me like you really deserved the Hershey's truffles :)

Walking to the store, huh? What happened, did you run out of Miracle Whip? It's too bad that we don't live closer, or Mr. Geek would shovel your car out. He wouldn't be able to help it.

I have just one question for you, Flydragon: Are these the Hershey dark chocolate truffles, also called "nuggets"? If so, I think you should have picked up a couple more bags, because I'm sure it would have taken one bag to give you enough energy for that long walk home. I'm addicted to these so I can understand why you had to get to the store. If they're a type of Hershey kisses, I need to know their name so I can find them!

flydragon said...

Iowa,
I do, I do!! No matter what others might think, I deserve them:)
Thanks for dropping over. I made a quick check of your blog and loved the butterflies. I'm going back to check out some more.

DG,
Ha, miracle whip was the one thing I didn't run out of. Wish there was a handsome, young man like Mr.Geek living around here to lend a hand, er shovel, when the need arose.

Rose,
These are dark chocolate truffle kisses. I looked for the nuggets but couldn't find any, but these are just as addictive as they are. Mmmmm, mmmmm, good!! And right now, I'm wishing I had bought a lot more of them:)

wooaaaaah!!
congrats... atleast, your car is clear!

send some snow here :)

flydragon said...

KALI,
I would love to send all my snow to you, but I'm afraid it would all be water by the time it got there. But I guess you could probably use some of that too:)

TC said...

Hmmm, as clean as your car looks, I'd guess you got the garden hose and a soapy bucket of water out during that "balmy" weather and gave your vehicle a bath. Admit it! ;~P

flydragon said...

TC,
Okay, I admit it. With shorts and a t shirt on too. Had to wear winter boots though because my bare feet got too cold in the snow.
