Speaking Of Chocolate

Oh, c’mon, I know someone out there is talking about chocolate. If not talking about it, they’re thinking about it, or better yet, they’re eating it right now!! I mean someone other than me. I know for sure I’m not the only one that enjoys a nice little chocolate for breakfast.

So speaking of chocolate, first I’ll say that Hershey’s is one of my favorites. You know, the 8oz. super duper bar. The one I have on the night stand in case I need just a little taste before I go to sleep. Break off one or two squares. Okay, sometimes more than just one or two. I also have a fondness for Dove chocolate. Very creamy. But…….the very best, the absolute top of my list is the “TRIPLE FRENCH TRUFFLE” . (Yes, it deserves the capitals) This is the perfect chocolate.

A candy store not far from my house (too far to walk unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you’re looking at it) carries this creamy, smooth, melt in your mouth, piece of perfection. A store that my sister and I usually stop in after our little excursions. A store that I’ve been known to spend more in than the grocery store. Hey, this chocolate ain't cheap.

Anyhow, the other day while sitting by the window, I see Betty come walking up the sidewalk heading toward my back door. Making one of my snap decisions and deciding not to try to dash upstairs and change out of my robe (yes, that one) before she covers the last 15 feet to the door, because after all this is my sister and she won’t say anything about it, I let her in. “Hey, hi, come on in”. “Hi. I see you’re still in your robe”. So much for sweet sisters…..but all is forgiven in an instant because she was a sister bearing gifts. A box of “TRIPLE FRENCH TRUFFLES”.

Not offering her any because #1. I knew she had her own stash in the car, #2. I’m a selfish little pig, and #3. I’m still thinking a little bit about the robe remark, I wait until she leaves before I take my first piece. AHHHHHHHHHH.

OH NO. How'd that happen? Where'd they all go? What am I going to do now?

Hey Betty. Whatcha doing? Want to come over for a cup of tea? And on your way, since you drive right by it………………….

You always make me smile! We have a similar candy store. Once I start eating her home-made chocolate, there's no stopping me! I usually buy several boxes for gifts and then hope the intended recipients don't show up!

How funny flydragon!!!I surely hope you put some time in between eating those. If not, I can't expect a response for awhile due to intense shaking from a "caffeine high". Those do look yummie!!!

Kind of spooky, I was stuffing a chocolate creme de pirouline in my mouth as I read this.

I'm not as fond of Hersey as you are. Tastes waxy to me. Don't like dark chocolate at all. Milk chocolate...ahhhh. Never tried a triple french truffle. Sounds heavenly.

Only one box? What was Aunt Betty thinking?
Is it tea time yet?

Mildred,
I find that if I wrap the candy gifts right away, they stand a better chance of still being there when the recipient shows up. If not wrapped immediately, well then........

Susie,
There was some time lapse in between but maybe not enough because I seem to have trouble sodmbksutp dhgls sodju.

Marnie,
Ah Ha, I knew I wasn't the only one that ate it for breakfast!!

Azbrat,
She must have thought I have as much will power as she does. I thought she knew me better than that. I'm hoping tea time comes pretty soon.

Ah, chocolate.... *drool* I would be so easy to poison. Several times, friends have left chocolate items on my desk, and I usually have finish eating them before I bother to wonder where they came from.

i had to dip into the stocking stuffers hiding in my closet... i needed, really needed, some chocolate yesterday.

btw, thanks alot for saving some for me. i hope you have some good n plenty hanging around waiting on my next visit to make up for this!

DG,
I'm betting that you also look around to see if anyone else has one on their desk, and if they're out of the room.........

NVAM,
You did notice that there was one left in the box, right? But I'm looking at it now, so I figure you have about 10 minutes starting........NOW

Dog_geek said...

Yes, well, how does the saying go... "Move your feet, lose your chocolate" or something like that.

flydragon said...

DG,
LOL, Or you could just cover a wider range of goodies all at once by saying "move your feet, lose your eats"

You are so funny! Yes, so speaking about chocolate, have you had the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate at Starbucks. Wowza. I don't EVEN want to know the caloric content. It's all about the salt. And the caramel. And the chocolate. I keep telling myself it can't be bad if I had it made with the lo-fat milk. hahahaha. I'm off to make a cup of Scharfen Berger hot cocoa now.

As for the robe business, I didn't get out of my jammies until 4pm today.

Hey I think I said I wanted to see if you were still in that ratty robe. I guess the next time I come over I'll have to bring lots more since everyone will be waiting. Middle sis

Yum, I'm drooling. Yes from the thought of chocolate, not because I normally drool.

Chocolate caramels....now THAT's drool material! So what if they rip your teeth out.

TC said...

Oh c'mon! I know you didn't eat all them. Nice photo editing though. But now you've done went and gave me a humongous craving for a Hershey's chocolate bar!

Ohh I knew I should not have visited you, but you lured me here with chocolate. I have never tried Triple dipple Truffle or what ever it is called..but I started to drool.
Thanks for makeing me a candidate for the home. I hope they have chocolate there and bibs! :)

Now you're talking, Chocolate- aahhh. I agree with Marnie, Hershys is kind of waxy. Dove chocolate is very good. I love dark chocolate, but you can't bite it or chew it, just let it melt in your mouth. Sometimes I sip coffee with it and the flavor just explodes in your mouth. Did you ever try Trader Joe's French truffles? Whoa, now that's what I'm talking about.

Rudee,
Salted, caramel, hot chocolate?? Yummmmmmm. I've never tried it but I'm surely going to now!!! Jammies till 4 huh. I'm going to try that too. Oh, I already have.

Betty,
I didn't want to tell everyone you did that on purpose. And what do you mean ratty??

flabrat
I think I have a picture of you around here that shows you really do normally drool.

deb,
Chocolate caramels. Mmmmm, what a tasty way to get rid of unwanted teeth.

TC,
Yes, that's exactly what it was. Editing. How'd you know?

farside,
I don't know about the chocolate but I know they have bibs there. Lots and lots of bibs.

Di,
Traders Joe's French Truffles. Never heard of them, but it definitely sounds like something I need.

You know, I always wished I had a sister:)

Good thing I waited till this morning to read this, or I'd be raiding the pantry right now for some chocolate. (I don't eat chocolate in the morning.)

These look heavenly. A cheaper alternative--and my personal favorite--is Hershey's dark chocolate truffles. The trouble is, they are hard to find; I'm thinking of writing Hershey to make sure they don't discontinue making it!

Rose said...

Just saw Di's comment...We don't have a Trader Joe's near here, but my daughter goes to one in Phoenix frequently. Wonder how much it would cost to get her to ship me a couple pounds of those truffles?:)

flydragon said...

Rose,
Ah, sisters do come in handy:) I've never seen/heard of the Hersheys Dark Chocolate Truffles. Another one to keep an eye out for.
It would probably cost an arm and a leg to ship Trader Joes, but might be worth it depending on how much you looooooove chocolate:)

Ok, guess I'll have to add my 2cents, since I'm now eating Hershey's Dark Chocolate Truffles. I bet you can find them at Mark's-- maybe?? I buy mine at Kroger's, and they're about $2.50 on sale. Yummmm!!! And they're individually wrapped, so you can't just wolf them down, or at least it takes a little longer. Besides, dark chocolate is supposed to be good for you, just like red wine, right!!!! In case you need an excuse!

flydragon said...

Nan,
If you can get them at Krogers, I'm sure Marcs has them too. I'm gonna have to check. Thanks for the info. And I've always used the excuse that chocolate and wine keep you healthy:)

KALI said...

your blog is 4 days ago...
i just want to check if u're still OK? i hope it didnt have that much effect! just 'choco hang-over!'

i love stacking chocolates as well, not for me but for people that will come over. if you have time... i can save some for you :)

Kali,
I'm fine over here.
And save me some chocolate, I'm on my way:)

Merry Christmas!!

Far Side of Fifty said...

Merry Christmas! I thought you were at least worth that wish!! Soon I expect you to write something even if both of your arms have been severed and you must type with your nose:)

flydragon said...

TC,
And I hope you had a very, merry one too.

farside,
Thanks, and to you too. You're right. I would have typed one with my nose, since it's long enough, but I'm afraid it was the keyboard that was severed and no matter how long my nose is, it's of no help. But since my keyboard seems to be working now, I'll see what I can do.

I know where you're coming from, lol. Santa put a box of chocolates under my tree and I'm ashamed to admit it but the box looks a lot like your last picture now.

flydragon said...

Hey oldcrow,
There's absolutly nothing to be ashamed of. I'm not, why should you be:)
