Red sky in the morning, sailors warning"
I don't know where this quote comes from, but my mom used to say it.
Fortunately for the sailors this was a night sky.
They might have been doing a happy dance when they saw this, but it still looks very eerie to me.
I don't know what the sailors have to say about these, but I like them.
None of these were taken lately because we haven't had any rain for quite a while. Just a few sprinkles during the last 4 weeks. I can smell the dust hanging in the air and on the bushes, and see the coating on the roofs and cars. The weather forcast is saying a 50% chance of rain today and tonight. I hope so. We need a good drenching!!!

Wowee - that is one red sky! Good luck getting some rain - we have a shot at getting a few sprinkles, too, which would be great for the hay field!
Beautiful! That first one looks like a raging wildfire.
Marnie
Hope you get some rain too.
The red sky picture is amazing.
I have had plenty of rain for awhile. September, so far, is wet and cool here.

Don't worry, we are sending Hanna up your way! She will be followed by Ike. They will both share some water with you (hopefully not much wind though). Did NVAM get that loin problem from you?

D_G,
I think that was the reddest sky I've ever seen. I don't know what part of the country you're in but hopefully you'll get some rain too.
Marnie,
The beauty of a wildfire without the damage or danger. It was neat!!
Q,
I know you got some of Gustavs' rain and that is what we have a chance of getting today, at least what's left of him, but so far only a few sprinkles.
Fla brat,
We probably won't get any of Hanna, and hopefully you won't get any of Ike!!! NVAM got that problem from your dad and so did you.
Well, I hope you are now soaked with rain. Gustav brought us a steady slow 2" yesterday-much needed and much appreciated! Your sky photos are beautiful, no matter when they were taken. I can't resist looking at a glorious sunset.
Beckie,
Glad you got some of Gustav, but as of now we still only got sprinkles. Maybe later tonite.
As you can see I missed seeing the actual sun going down because of trees and houses around me, but I sure got the reflection on the clouds. One of these evenings I'm going to take a walk to the lake (Erie) and get a shot of the whole shebang.
Where/when did you take these beautiful shots? I don't know if the mountains get in the way, but I never see anything like these!!

You should be getting rain today... no? Happily, it's been raining off and on all day today; a steady drizzle, not one of those hard rains that just splashes off of everything and runs into the storm sewers.
Nan,
I took these in my front yard. I have no idea why it looked like that. Must have been just the right amount of clouds at just the right time that the sun was setting. I'm glad I got that picture because I've never seen it like that again.
Kim,
I just checked the rain gauge now and we only got 1/10 of an inch of rain so far. I know the west side got more, but it seems to break up before it gets to us. Hopefully, we'll get more overnight.
I really hope you get some rain! It's really tough when you see people all around you getting it and you come up dry.
Those sky pictures are pretty but very unusual. Love the rainbow.
flydragon-come to my blog, I'm giving you a little award.
Susie,
I like the rainbows, too. I plan to take more of them because I figure I'll see them again unlike the unusual red sky.
Thanks for thinking of me for the award, but I'm afraid I'm one of those who don't participate. Peoples' visits and comments on my blog are my reward.
